The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act or “UOCAVA” requires states to allow certain voters who are absent from their county of residence to have special rights that provide an expedited means for them to register and vote by mail-in absentee ballot. In order to qualify under the provisions of UOCAVA in this state, a voter must be a legal resident of North Carolina. Citizens covered by UOCAVA include:

All filing fees must be made in the form of cash or personal check Filing Fees above $50 must be made in the form of a check and cannot be paid by a check from a business. Filing Fees can be seen by downloading the “2016 Filing Fees” file at the bottom of the page.

The Beaufort County Board of Elections regularly scheduled meeting for the month of December has been postponed to December 8^th at 5:00 pm at the Board of Elections Office at 1308 Highland Drive, Suite 104, Washington, NC, 27889.

One stop voting and same day registration ended at 1:00 on Saturday, October 31, 2015.

Persons wishing to vote will need to do so on Tuesday, November 3^rd, 2015 at their normal voting place/precinct.  The Board of Elections Office is NOT a voting place on Election Day. Same day registration is not allowed on Election Day.

Tomorrow is the last day for Voters to take advantage of one stop voting and same day registration. The Beaufort County Board of Elections will be open from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 31^st, 2015.

At the Meeting held at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2015, the Beaufort County Board of Elections dismissed the complaint filed by Adam O’Neal against Belhaven Precinct Officials. The Board unanimously agreed that the complaint did not comply with 8 NCAC 3.0201 and did not cite any negative election action by the precinct officials and that social and political relationships do not directly lead to the conclusion that the persons accused would not perform their duty as required by their oath and training.

The Beaufort County Board of Elections will hold a public meeting on Friday, October 30^th, 2015 at 6:00 pm to consider the complaint filed by Candidate Adam O’Neal against Belhaven Precinct Officials Jimmie Southerland, Diana Lambeth, and Karen Fisher.
