Public Comment needed for proposed One Stop Plans for the November 8th, 2016 Presidential Election

The Beaufort County Board of Elections is requesting input from the public on proposed One Stop Plans for the November 8th, 2016 Presidential Election.

The Beaufort County Board of Elections is required to operate One Stop Voting for 195 hours during the one stop period prior to the election. Three proposed plans have been offered for public input. Summaries of those plans are as follows:

Option 1: 198.5 Hours

Office closed in observance of Memorial Day

The Beaufort County Board of Elections will be closed on Monday, May 30th, 2016 in observance of Memorial Day. One stop voting will resume at 8:00 am on Tuesday, May 31st, 2016. One stop will continue 8:00 am to 5:00 pm through Friday, June 3rd and will end on Saturday, May 4th operating from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

UOCAVA Election Notice for the June 7th, 2016 Primary in Beaufort County, NC is now available on our Website

The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act or “UOCAVA” requires states to allow certain voters who are absent from their county of residence to have special rights that provide an expedited means for them to register and vote by mail-in absentee ballot. In order to qualify under the provisions of UOCAVA in this state, a voter must be a legal resident of North Carolina. Citizens covered by UOCAVA include:

March 15th, 2016 Republican County Commissioner Recount Results

Upon request of Candidate Don Cox, the Beaufort County Board of Elections conducted a recount of the March 15th, 2016 Republican County Commissioner Contest on March 23rd, 2016. After recounting all ballots cast for the contest, both Candidates Don Cox and Gary Brinn gained one vote above the previously canvassed official results. The margin between the candidates remains at 42. Official recount results can be found by opening the file below: 

One Stop Voting Ends at 1:00 PM on March 12th, 2016 for the 2016 Presidential Preference Primary

Saturday, March 12th is the last day for voters to utilize the One Stop Voting Options for the March 15th, 2016 Presidential Preference Primary.

Absentee Data Available for the March 15th, 2016 Presidential Preference Primary Elections

Absentee Data is now available for the March 15th, 2016 Presidential Preference Primary Elections. Data files will be labeled and include data for the date specified in the file’s title. One Stop, Civilian, Military, and Overseas Absentee Voters are included. One Stop files are not cumulative and only contain data from the specified date.

Daily updates will be posted within 24 hours of the close of business for the specified day.

Same Day Registration Allowed for the March 15th, 2016 One Stop Period (March 3 – March 12)

Eligible individuals may register and vote during the one-stop early voting period.  This “same-day registration” process is currently permitted due to a preliminary injunction granted under a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, but this option remains the subject of ongoing litigation in federal court.  Please check back at this website for updates.  Click here to check your voter registration status.
