Public Comment needed for proposed One Stop Plans for the March 15th, 2016 Presidential Preference Primary

The Beaufort County Board of Elections is requesting input from the public on proposed One Stop Plans for the March 15th, 2016 Presidential Preference Primary.

 

The Beaufort County Board of Elections is required to operate One Stop Voting for 113 hours during the one stop period prior to the primary. Three proposed plans have been offered for public input. Summaries of those plans are as follows:

The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act or “UOCAVA” requires states to allow certain voters who are absent from their county of residence to have special rights that provide an expedited means for them to register and vote by mail-in absentee ballot. In order to qualify under the provisions of UOCAVA in this state, a voter must be a legal resident of North Carolina. Citizens covered by UOCAVA include:

Candidate filing for the 2016 Elections begins December 1st, 2015 at noon

2016 CANDIDATE FILING DATES

Filing Starts - Tuesday, December 1st, 2015 at 12:00 Noon

Filing Ends – Monday, December 21st, 2015 at 12:00 Noon

All filing fees must be made in the form of cash or personal check Filing Fees above $50 must be made in the form of a check and cannot be paid by a check from a business. Filing Fees can be seen by downloading the “2016 Filing Fees” file at the bottom of the page.

 

One Stop Voting and Same Day Registration has ended for the November 3rd, 2015 Elections

One stop voting and same day registration ended at 1:00 on Saturday, October 31, 2015.

Persons wishing to vote will need to do so on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015 at their normal voting place/precinct.  The Board of Elections Office is NOT a voting place on Election Day. Same day registration is not allowed on Election Day.

The Beaufort County Board of Elections dismisses the complaint filed by Adam O’Neal

At the Meeting held at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2015, the Beaufort County Board of Elections dismissed the complaint filed by Adam O’Neal against Belhaven Precinct Officials. The Board unanimously agreed that the complaint did not comply with 8 NCAC 3.0201 and did not cite any negative election action by the precinct officials and that social and political relationships do not directly lead to the conclusion that the persons accused would not perform their duty as required by their oath and training.
